Rains: Mumbai Interrupted

< Back > < Next >

Intermittent rains lashed Mumbai on Wednesday and Thursday waterlogging several low-lying areas and partially disrupting road and rail traffic.

The city experienced moderate to heavy showers since Wednesday night, throwing normal life out of gear. After the major disruption of suburban and long-distance trains on Central Railway lines following the snapping of overhead electric wire due to lightning, services were restored though suburban trains were running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule.

The fire department said that apart from fallen trees at places in the city, no major mishap was reported on Thursday. Images: Heavy rains caught Mumbai unwares and threw the city's disaster management system out of gear.
