The president also addressed a Joint Session of the Congress of the Philippines during his visit. His speech focused mainly on the emerging economic potential of Asia.
He said he had no doubt that the future of global business interaction would be in Asia, and members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) should take steps to make the region an attractive and viable marketing proposition.
Kalam also shared with the Congress India's experience in modernising the election system and assured them of assistance in providing the necessary technological tools. "Both our nations are free and independent states in an increasingly complex and interdependent world where the values of friendship and mutual assistance are of paramount importance," he added
