February 3: Kam Air 737-200 crashed into a mountain near Kabul, Afghanistan, about 32 kilometres from its destination.

The Boeing 737 was operated by Kam Air, Afghanistan's first post-Taliban private airline, and vanished from radar screens after it approached Kabul airport in a blizzard from the city of Herat. All 105 on board died.
