The Mandala Airlines Boeing 737-200 domestic jetliner that crashed into Medan, Indonesia on Monday killed 147. It wasn't the only air disaster this year. In Indonesia alone, there was a deadly crash a mere nine months ago.
August 2005 was the worst month for air traffic since May 2002, with five major accidents that took approximately 334 lives in Peru, Greece, Tunisia and Venezuela. And yes, there was also that incident in Toronto, when a plane overshot a runway and caught fire, although no one was hurt.
