Standing trial: Saddam Hussein
The trial of deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein began in
Baghdad on Wednesday.
He appeared in court to face charges that he ordered the killing of 143
people in the Shia town of Dujail in 1982. If convicted, he will be given
the death penalty.
Seven senior ministers of his toppled regime are also facing similar
charges.
