He was born into the world of music and dance, the sound of a ghungroo dominating his childhood. He also learnt to dance much before he learnt to run.
"My first memories of childhood are those of dance classes and playing pranks with the students. But one thing clearly etched in my memory is climbing trees in school and cycling long distances. Dance does not evoke any fond memory. It's the outdoors that stand out, the trees and environment. All visual."
As he grew, there was this strong urge to break away from the fetters of dance and enter a world he could see from behind a lens. This dancer, who exchanged the ghungroo for a camera, is Satyajit Dhananjayan, son of the most famous dancing couple in India -- Dhanajayan and Shanta Dhananjayan.
