Azad takes over reigns of J&K

Ghulam Nabi Azad was sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening in a ceremony at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar.

Legislature Party leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister, replacing Mangat Ram Sharma of the Congress.

Addressing his first press conference at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre, Azad said that the relief and rehabilitation work for the quake-hit will be his top priority.

Soon after he took oath as chief minister at the head of a 12-member coalition government, Azad asserted that custodial killings in the state would not be tolerated.
