Cardinal Oscar Rodríguez Maradiaga

At 68, Cardinal Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, is one of the youngest men in the race to be the next Pope.

However, unlike other jobs, young candidates are not favoured in the Papacy. But it's interesting to note that Pope John Paul II was elected at 58, so Cardinal Maradiaga has a fare chance of becoming the next Pope.

The Cardinal speaks many languages and is known for his strong belief that the real solution to the problems of Latin America and the entire developing world is social justice.

He has been open about his view that the next Pope should be from a developing country.
