Name: Nikita (Left). Age: 20
Education: No formal education
Hails from: Kolkata, West Bengal.
Nikita's family was barely able to make ends meet. Her father did not have a stable job and what he earned from odd jobs was not enough to feed the six-member family.
That was when Nikita decided she would shore up the family.
She came to Mumbai, worked in a public phone booth, didn't earn enough and went the dance bar way.
Now Nikita, who has three siblings, earns enough and her family is happy. She took a house on rent and brought her elder sister to Mumbai. The elder sister does nothing.
"She just wants to take care of me," Nikita said.
And Nikita, for her part, wants to take good care of her sister. "I want to see to it that she is married to a good guy and that my two younger brothers are properly educated," she said.
She said her own life comes after that.
Referring to the government decision to shut down dance bars, she said: "Why is the government doing this? My family won't survive if I don't do this."
