Preparing the Union Budget is not a new experience for the Congress MP from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu. Chidambaram had performed this task in the days of the United Front government as well, back in 1996-97. The difference this time is that he is working under a prime minister who is himself an expert on economic matters and has presented as many as five successive Union Budgets.
