The crucial budget session of Parliament got off to a stormy start on Monday, July 5. Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned after loud protests by the opposition against 'tainted' ministers.

After the disruption of the inaugural session of the 14th Lok Sabha, when the prime minister was not allowed to reply to the debate on the President's address, the budget session is also expected to be unruly with the sacking of four governors ahead of the session adding fuel to the opposition's fire.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is received by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on the first day of the Budget session.
