HC grants bail to convicted RJD ex-minister

The Patna High Court on Monday granted bail to former animal husbandry minister and RJD MLA Ramashray Sahni till disposal of his application seeking to set aside a subordinate court order sentencing him to life imprisonment in a murder case.

A fast-track court headed by A K Lal had on July 18 sentenced Sahni along with 11 others to life imprisonment in connection with the killing of a policeman Kameshwar Choudhury.

Sahni had subsequently resigned from the Rabri Devi ministry.

The division bench comprising Justice S N Jha and Justice T P Singh had, while reserving its order on Sahni's petition last week, sought to know from authorities if Sahni had been lodged in a jail.
