For that matter how in the world does India itself stand to gain by Clinton's visit.... this is nothing but our Government's efforts to bring a lot of hype and hoopla to this non existent issue.
People who want to argue cam mail me...

Message: Why add so much importance to a visit? A country like India which is more self-reliant than most western countries should be dictating terms. Look at how the American security has taken over Delhi, Jaipur and other cities... do you think this will happen when K.R.Narayanan or Vajpayee visits UK or USA?
Pak has been an ally of US during the cold war and no matter what US is going to trust Pak over India, especially when a country like US thrives on arms sales.
High time India takes the lead and starts becoming a "leader" as against "follower"!

Message: I really don't understand why the Indian government and the increasingly powerful Indian-American community is making such a big deal about Clinton including Pakistan on his South Asian itinerary. India's sense of self-esteem and its position in the global community should not be predicated on whether Clinton visits Pakistan or not. Clinton's nod to Pakistan should be irrelevant to India.

Message: i think mr clinton will be shown only some polished/beautiful part of india.. indians will not present president with dark and ugly side of india..but president knows all about that.. i think president should bring forward the human rights violations issue in different parts of the country issues...he should tell his indian counterparts to at least obey their own indian constitution instead following the rules of thier own...there is no proper infrastucture in india like roads drinking water hospital universities medical school..so mr clinton should sign a comtract to build the infrasture by amrican company and than talk abt highteck..every body knows abt 90 % of present infrastructre was laid by britishers there is only 10 % laid by indian govt...that too very dangerous ie more harms than uses 100% of indian roads are acceident prone they are not made according to latest technology..so mr pesident should ask mr vajpayee (before shaking hands) to please put the clothes on mr vajpayee you are standing naked.

Message: I think for clinton, this trip is solely for his own political gains. If he can get India-Pak to sit down & discuss issues, he goes down in History for that. Even otherwise, with all the coverage he's getting, he still stands to gain.
India, Please wake up!!!!!
We are better off without guys like him coming to our help.

U.S is playing a diplomatic game with us .It is one of their farce policies that they are playing on us.Clinton's visit to
India is for holiday purpose.Out of the two and half days visit ,most of his time will be spent on watching the beauty of India.
Moreover trip to Pakistan will only ensure his arms market to be intact.Any fruitful outcome of his visit to India is quite athing to see. let's keep our fingers crossed.

Message: Frankly, I think Clinton wants the American taxpayer to pay for a vacation in India- clearly, nothing substantive will emerge from the visit of an ex-president. You don't see Gore and Bush making any comments at all about this trip. Can we all just treat him like another tourist and stop worrying about Pakistan and Bangladesh?? They DON'T matter....Pakistan is just another tin-pot little country with no future, no past and clearly, no present. Why does all of India waste so much effort in bringing itself down to Pakistans denominator when there is just no basis for comparison? How many Pakistani entrepreneurs can you count on your fingertips? How mnany Pakistani scientists can you name? How many Pakistani ANYTHINGS can you name apart from dictators and corrupt politicians?? Lets move on - that country is just a more sophisticated version of present day Afghanistan and a LESS sophisticated version of what Afghanistan was before the Soviet invasion...

I don't think his visit to Pakistan will help them in any way. We have got a bit of set back deplomatically. If he would not have visited Pakistan,
it would have been an acievement. But we can twist this situation to our advantage also.

Message: Mr. Bill Clinton's visit is a multidimentional feature.
Before the presidential election in US he is cleverly drawing attention of voters including NRIndians in US and also to gain world's sympathy for him.He is also following the path of British so that in near future US can rule over India. His associates will watch whether Indian Soceity and Weather is suitable for Americans to live in and rule over.I went to US in 1998 and have seen that how much those citizen hate Indians. It is truely surprising that why US President is coming to India. So there is nothing beneficial for Indians as is thought by common people and Govt. of India.May be some ministers' son/daughter/grandson/granddaughter may get citizenship in US otherwise Mr. Clinton's visit is not only highly suspicious but harmful too.

Message: I don't think that clinton's visit to pakistan should be considered as a diplomatic stback for India. After all the US has its own concerns and reasons for maintaining dialouge with Pakistan. Clinton has himself made itclear that this visit does not in any way give credibility to the military government in Pakiastan. Infact in the recent years I think the US has for the first time unambigiously announced and condemed Paksitan's involvment in aiding and abetting terrorism.
The visit hence is appropiately been scheduled as a short stay.
At the same time Inida should not expect too much out of this visit. Secretary for State Madeline Albright has recently said that the nuclear issue is the major hurdle before the two countires can work towards building realtions.

Message: I don't seem to understand why this euphoria over the visit of Uncle Sam? The issue is that when our President or Prime Minister visit US nobody neither media nor the general public takes a note, not even an eye blinks there, if such is the response do we need to give so much importance to this visit. I feel it is a case of imposed hospitality...India, I mean our media should refrain from give such an extensive coverage to the forthcoming visit..I also feel that Clinton (or to say the entire US administration has succumbed to the dictates of Gen Mushharraf, by announcing a halt at Islamabad)
'Maybe Bill can make this an annual pilgrim -- keep Delhi clean and green!'
