On a tip-off from the military intelligence, government forces recovered 200 kg of RDX from a hideout at Chinkral Mohalla Fatehkadal.

This is one of the biggest RDX haul in the valley.

A defence spokesman said the explosive was to be used for disrupting the shifting of the state machinery to Jammu for the winter.

Seven persons including five militants were killed during the last 24 hours, a police spokesman said.

Meanwhile, a six-member European Union delegation arrived in Srinagar Monday. It comprises New Delhi-based ambassadors including Benjamin Bassin from Finland, Claude Blanchrmaison from France, Manuel Marcelo Curto from Portugal and Micheal Barrie from the EU.

The delegation met the acting chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, former Union home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who briefed them about the situation.

The delegation is scheduled to meet state officials.
