Doordarshan officials arrested

Four senior officials of the Doordarshan Guwahati station were arrested on Thursday night for allegedly broadcasting exaggerated news about the Bodo mayhem on Tuesday.

The four, arrested under non-bailable charge from their homes, are joint director (news) Hiteswar Medhi, editor Ramani Malakar, assistant news editor Pratap Bordoloi and news producer Daben Tamuli.

On Tuesday, 16 people were killed by Bodo militants at Kekerikuchi village in Kamrup district.
