PM should allow ED probe into Jethmalani's FERA violation, says Swamy

Prime Minister A B Vajpayee should forthwith give clearance to the Enforcement Directorate to chargesheet Union Urban Development Minister Ram Jethmalani in connection with an alleged FERA violation case to the tune of 200,000 US dollars, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy said today.

Dr Swamy contended that any delay on the part of the prime minister in this regard would violate the Supreme Court's guidelines laid down for the Central Bureau of Investigation and the ED for prosecuting politically sensitive cases.

He said the prime minister should also call for reports by the Research and Analysis Wing on Jethmalani's visit to Taiwan along with Ramakrishna Hegde last year. He also demanded that Jethmalani's response to Vajpayee's letter should be made public.
