Narasimha Rao Reasons : We as Indians have come to have the least of expectations from our prime ministers. But look at Narasimha Rao, he gave us a very Stable government for 5 years, brought far reaching econonomic changes, improved India's image in the international community. What else can u ask for. I can't think of any other Indian PM who has done his job better except ofcourse Lal Bahadur Shastri.

SRT could have been the most obvious choice for many , But Paes's achievements stand out for obvious reasons. Politicians didnt do anything much this year too , so they obviously lose out.

His bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics will remain the highlight of Indian achivement a t the Olympics but his inconsistency will make him a mere aberration in international tennis annals.
From: Isaac David Chinnappa <isaac.chinnappa@fmr.com> Date sent: Sat, 21 Dec 1996 02:49:15 -0500 Person Nominated : T. N. Shesan Reasons : For the santity which he restored in the Election Process ,Dynamism ,Outspoken and what not. Now I can really think of casting my vote .
From: Sriram Ramachandran <sriramx_ramachandran@ccm.sc.intel.com> Date sent: Sat, 21 Dec 1996 06:21:46 -0500 Person Nominated : CMM Prem Kumar Reasons : Prem Kumar's belief in justice. He stood by his belief at the risk of damaging all that he built so hard, so long. Including his family & carrier It takes more than guts to call a spade by its name esp when the spade is all mighthy and ruling the nation. We all know how unruly and uncouth politician & their cotrie can get. He gave a new sigh of relief for all the Indian's frustrated by corruption and almost gave up. To honour him would mean recognizing all the unsung daily commonner heroe's, who are being just honest and truthful in whatever they do.
From: Gouri S Vulchi <gouri@scope-tech.com> Date sent: Sat, 21 Dec 1996 07:18:03 -0500 Person Nominated : A. B. VAJPAYEE Reasons : He is the most charismatic personalities of Indian politics. He is a man of nofear and if ti comes to express his opinion he does it gracefully and sticks to it. When he had to resign after 13 days ruling the country as PM he did not resort to horse trading but he quit and set an example. That is wwhy I like him .
