The next day, we went to the Universal Studios after breakfast. We were taken on a tour ride. We took a lot of photographs.
The first ride was the Simpsons', followed by the War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, The Mummy and Water World. There were special effects every 10 minutes. One moment we were cruising and the next we were in an 'accident' with cars flying right at us before suddenly stopping in midair and reversing. Then there were bomb blasts, a bridge collapse, and a boat that was set on fire. We stopped at the Jurassic Park restaurant also.
Then we returned to the hotel to change for our first party, organised by Fox Searchlight. We met Danny Boyle, our cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, Dev and Freida.
Dev offered me his $75,000 watch to wear at the Oscars.
The only problem I faced was the cold, which affected my legs. I had to sit at another table with a hot water bag cushioning my legs.
