Telugu Sankranti releases, 2009

Sankranti is a favourite time for Telugu producers to release their films. And like last year, this year's releases too are devoid of superstars.

Of the six films slated for release, only three -- Maska, Arundhati and Fitting Master -- will hit the theatres. Koncham Ishtam, Koncham Kashtam and Satyameva Jayate scheduled to release around this time have been postponed.

Here's a closer look at what's in store this Sankkranti.

Maska

Looks like M S Raju likes releasing films during Sankranti. This producer who puts in everything and spares nothing where films are concerned has had big hits like Okkadu and Nuvvastanante Nenoddantana in the past. Incidentally these films were released during Sankranti.

However his directorial debut Vaana (which released last Sankranti and was a remake of the Kannada hit Mungaru Male) flopped.

Maska directed by B Gopal stars the up and coming Ram with Hansika and Sheela. Raju is apparently releasing it with 275-300 prints.

Maska, according to Raju is a total commercial entertainer with a message. Chakri's music is already becoming chartbusters.

But the highlight of Maska are the dances of Ram who is still riding the success of Ready. Hansika will certainly up the oomph factor, while Sheela is said to have a good role too.
