'Emraan has given many hits but still you don't see him among the A-listers'

How does it feel to be an established director at 27?

Great! It has been a great learning experience. I have more money now, my own car and a laptop -- none of which I had earlier. I used to use Kunal Deshmukh's (Jannat director) laptop and travel in his car to work.

There are disadvantages of being a public figure too. I used to fight at restaurants earlier, and do that even now. But now the difference is that people know you.

What would you say about Emraan, as an actor?

He is a very talented and intelligent actor. He is only actor who asks his director to cut his role and increase his co-star's role in a film. He asked me to make his role shorter than Adhyayan's. That will benefit the film, as more suspense will be created.

In real life, he is a miser when it comes to showing his emotions. That could be why he can emote certain scenes well on screen.

He has given many hits but still you don't see him among the A-listers. He has been blocked from reaching the top. But I know for sure that he will be on top someday.

He comes up with very brilliant ideas some times. The burning portrait scene, shown in the promos, was suggested by him. While shooting that scene, it just didn't fit right. I got upset and asked Emraan what to do. So he suggested we burn the painting. That was spontaneous and the best thing I could have done.
