Ah, the hype. Sanjay Gadhvi moved out of the Dhoom zone with the serendipitous casting of Imran Khan opposite Sanjay Dutt.
Khan, Aamir's nephew, had a few months of being the toast of the industry with his smashing debut in Abbas Tyrewala's Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, but things turned decidedly lukewarm for the young tyke in this vague misadventure which was plotted far too loosely, even for Bollywood's decidedly lax detailing standards.
From the time Khan kidnaps Minissha Lamba to the time he brings her to his lair, there is a costume change. Yes, really. There is much focus on cleavage baring and not hardly enough on the actual plot proceedings, the scenes merge messily and flowlessly into one another. Lamba's voice gets on your nerves, and poor Imran tries so hard to look furious you can't help but laugh. And finally, an aging Sanjay Dutt huffs and puffs and blows the movie down.
