She is French but speaks Tamil fluently. Born and brought up in Tamil Nadu, Kalki Koechlin never thought that her debut in Dev D would make waves.
An alumni of the London University where she studied drama and theatre, Kalki moved to Mumbai two years ago to try her luck in Bollywood. And it looks like her luck held out -- her performance as Chanda in Anurag Kashyap's film has come up for much praise.
Now the actress has fans clamouring to know more about her, which they did during a rediff chat on Wednesday. For those of you who missed the chat, here's what transpired.

Kalki Koechlin answers, I was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu, so I speak Tamil.

Kalki Koechlin answers, I was glad to do this role. I knew the role had a lot of layers. It is bold but also very real and honest. I was tense only because I wanted to do a good job.

Kalki Koechlin answers, The script, the quality of work I had seen in Anurag's and Abhay's [Deol] previous work and the idea of a strong female character with vulnerability and attitude.

Kalki Koechlin answers, I'm originally French, born and brought up in South India, moved to Mumbai two years ago.
