The hero in the film, Ramesan (Mammootty), is a philanthropist who carries packets of food for the ailing patients at the nearby hospital every noon. But there is more to the story.
In fact, the story has been inspired from the real-life story of a person who provided food packets for quite a number of patients in a hospital near Thrissur. He has been featured in V K Sree Raman's book Veritta Kazhchakal though the basic storyline of Mayabazaar has been credited to Govind Ramdas.
"Rameshan is actually a hard working man but there is a street gang dealing in shady business led by Bhadran (Kalabhavan Mani). In fact the backdrop of the film, that involves the street and those who live there leads to another story, which has a suspense element involved in it," says Thomas Sebastian, who has been an assistant director to Siby Malayil, Lal Jose, Blessy, Sundar Das and K P Kumaran.
