'Minissha gets kidnapped when she goes swimming, and she is wearing a bikini'

You started with two romantic movies and then moved on to action movies. Kidnap seems to be an action movie again. Is action your first love?

Not really. As a director, I am still searching for that genre that I can call my own. My first film Tere Liye was a love story but it was about a band and a bunch of friends -- like Rock On!!.

Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi was a romantic comedy. Dhoom would be an action comedy and Dhoom 2 would be action romance because of Hrithik [Roshan] and Aishwarya's [Rai Bachchan] characters.

Kidnap would be an action drama because there are more dramatic situations. Sanjay Dutt is not doing action for nothing; he is doing it to save his daughter. That's different as opposed to Hrithik Roshan doing action because he wants to rob something -- so you may fall from a helicopter and sky dive. But Sanjay Dutt would do action of a different kind.

A girl on a bike, in a bikini, Imran's song resembles the Tata Young version of Dhoom.

The Tata Young song was not even directed by me; it was directed by Arjun Sablok [who directed the film, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum]. It was shot when I was doing the background music.

Imran's song has a European music video feel that [choreographer] Ahmed Khan has given. Imran's character comes across as a character, who has been suppressing his emotions, and is like a volcano waiting to erupt. It's not a part of the film. But you might see it in the end credits... like the Tata Young video. (smiles)

Minissha gets kidnapped when she goes swimming, and she is wearing a bikini. So you will say that there is a bikini in Dhoom, Dhoom 2 and now Kidnap. You may then ask me if all my films will have a heroine in a bikini.

Let me answer that. If you're making a contemporary film and are showing an 18-year-old girl living in today's world... Today's girls are very conscious of their figure. So once you make an actor reach that physical state where she looks hot and sexy, she will be confident enough to wear a bikini. She will have nothing to hide and will be bold about it. If my Kidnap sequence is in the water, I can't have her swim in a salwar kameez.
