Was half the battle won when you got John Shea?
Yes, I was happy to get him because Robertson is a very important character in the film. I wouldn't say casting the right people is half the battle won because there are so many battles to be won as you make a film. It is like waging war. I think filmmakers have to go through all this and face challenges regardless of the language the films are made in, and how much the budget is.
From conceptualisation to filming, what were the hurdles you faced?
Nothing is smooth in filmmaking. I was a software professional working in the US. In December 2006, I quit my job without even knowing what I would do next. I had an idea in mind and flew to India to meet Srini (P Srinivasan) whom I know from when he was working with Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram. When he heard the story, he said he wanted to be a part of it. Besides us, the other producers are Ananth Govindan, Asma Hashmi and Ramzan Lakhani.
There is a lot of glamour attached to software professionals turning filmmakers...
Glamour is only for the audience, not for the investors.
