Do you feel the lives of people settled outside India is not explored in Tamil cinema?
Yes. We go abroad only to shoot films. Balachander made a totally different film called 47 Naalkal and the whole film was set in Germany.
My film starts and ends in the US but the story is about what happens to a Tamil family. And the issue I address is global -- that what happens to my protagonist can happen to anyone anywhere in the world. Though it is a thriller, there is a noble intention behind the idea.
So, is your target audience Tamil?
Yes, my target audience is primarily Tamil only. That is why I have Prasanna and Sneha in the lead. Iranian films are made for the Iranian audience only but their films reach a wider audience.
Are you confident of breaking language barriers to reach a wider audience though it is made in Tamil?
Yes. I think the western audience is willing to watch films regardless of the language in which they are made. Of course, if the subject is good. So, I am confident.
