Anjathe and Subramaniyapuram are undoubtedly the two best Tamil films released so far in 2008.
Mysskin the director of Anjathe, is back again, his time with an off-beat film titled Nandalala. The movie tells a tale about a seven-year old boy and a man with the mental age of seven, in search of their respective mothers.
Mysskin had written the script of Nandalala long ago but there were no takers -- producers or actors despite the success of Anjathe. All the top actors whom the director approached to do the mentally-challenged young man's role, backed out citing that such a role would damage their image!
Finally, the director decided to do it himself. In this exclusive interview to Shobha Warrier, Mysskin, one of the brightest directors to enter the Tamil film scene, talks about Nandalala.
After the success of Anjathe, you must have received a lot of offers to direct films...
Yes, I got a lot of offers but my mind was on Nandalala's script, which I wrote earlier. I do not want to carry that bad feeling that I never made the film which was very close to my heart.
