How did you rope in P C Sreeram to do the cinematography? It is said he normally does not accept a film till he gets a bound script. Moreover, you are a cinematographer yourself?
I have not photographed what I have directed. I narrated the script to Thota Tharani who is a family friend and told him that I wanted P C Sir to do the film. Thota called and told him. When I spoke to P C Sir, he said, 'I am doing the film. When do you want to shoot?' Then I narrated the story to him. Only after that, he asked for a bound script. I had to translate it and give it to him.
You put P C Sreeram's name first in the posters of Keka. How did you vibe with him? Any comments on his cinematography?
He is a senior and his contribution is immense. So his name has to be first. I love his work and I am his biggest fan. When I became a director, I wanted to do a film with him but I needed a script which I could give him.
My idol worship has increased after working with him in Keka. He is like a small child. He doesn’t keep anything in his heart. He is good at heart. If I do another film, I'll wait for him.
The cinematography of Keka by P C Sir is mind-blowing. Camera work like this has not been done in Telugu cinema in the last 20 years. The visuals are stunning. One can feel the texture of the people and smell the place where the film has been shot.
