John Cromwell's 1950 film features Eleanor Parker as a teenager who goes to prison and -- after facing much trauma while incarcerated -- turns into a hard-nosed, tough convict.

It is a sobering watch and a great prison film, and Hope Emerson is particularly excellent as the prison matron, trying to 'control' the girls.
