Peter Jackson's 1994 drama is based on the grotesque 1954 Parker-Hulme murder in New Zealand, committed by two teenage girls.

Here Melanie Lynskey plays Parker and Kate Winslet is Hulme, and the film explores the rebellion -- the rebellion brought on by the fear of separation. It is a strong, frightening film.
