He's 37 years and five films old, but Paul Thomas Anderson is already -- and undoubtedly -- one of the most groundbreakingly influential filmmakers of his generation.
Like Quentin Tarantino, Anderson too is one of the first generation of VCR filmmakers -- those who have learnt the art of direction by watching innumerable VHS tapes, instead of going to film school. Also like QT, Anderson's style is that of intricately woven multiple-narratives and quirky ensemble casts.
His voice, however, is all his own. Here's a look at the Best Director nominee all the bookies are backing.
