Who knew playing a princess was such hard work? Actress Amy Adams found out just how tough it was to play one in Disney's Valentine's Day release, Enchanted.
The film tells the story of the lovely Giselle, (Amy), an utterly sweet and charming princess in waiting who falls in love with her prince and assumes that life will be simple, romantic and perfect in every way. That is until she is banished from the beautiful animated kingdom of Andalasia to the harsh reality of New York City, by the evil and power mad Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon).
The tough part for Amy was wearing the heavy gowns and performing her own stunts. Read on as the Italian-born actress who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 2005 film, Junebug spills the beans on Enchanted. Excerpts:
What kind of girl is Giselle?
Giselle is actually a princess in waiting, she grew up in the forest with the animals as a kind of wood nymph. She is a creature of the forest. She wasn't an aristocrat at all, but met Prince Edward through a series of events and is planning to get married to him. But like in all great fairy tales, there is a jealous stepmother who sends my character to New York. And I become real, flesh and blood and the film becomes live action.
