The Director of Photography started his career way back in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. After a sabatical, he did films like Aks and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Deohans returns behind the camera for Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar.

He tells Patcy N more about the historical film.

Why do you take such long breaks between two films?

I like shooting films as well as commercials. When I do films, I don't take up another project unless I finish it.

I don't believe in handling two projects at the same time. And once I'm done with the film, I take a break because I get too involved in it. Either I make a documentary, or an ad or a small film. I always take gaps between two big films.

The gap between Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Aks was really very big. But then again, I select films only if the script excites me. If it belongs to a different genre, then I get to do much more. That's challenging for me.

Aks was dark brooding film while Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was happy and colourful.
