Director Asok R Nath's Mizhikal Sakshi witnessed a top notch performance by veteran actor Sukumari. The film dealt with old age-related issues, after a mute old lady -- fondly called Kuniyamma -- starts living in a temple. When it was learnt that she is, in fact, a Muslim, the incident leads to tension between the communities.

Later, it is revealed that the fundamentalists had framed her son, a lecturer, and sent him to the gallows. Her son was played by Mohanlal.
