In a male dominated industry, good roles for actresses are hard to come by. Yet, it was a pleasant surprise to see women in important roles in films like Poo and Abhiyum Naanum.

Parvathy
Film: Poo
It is simply amazing to see how Parvathy -- a student of English literature from Trivandrum, Kerala -- transformed herself into a village girl called Maari, who works in a fireworks factory. Parvathy performed so well that it was impossible to not think of her as a village belle. We can only compare Parvathy's stunning performance to Priya Mani's in Paruthiveeran.
