Earlier too, actors like Amitabh Bachchan donned various get-ups in films featuring him in double/triple roles like Don, Mahaan, Do Anjaane and Aakhri Raasta. Dilip Kumar in Dastaan and Dharmendra in Jeevan Mrityu are other examples of the same.
Currently, Shah Rukh Khan, a la Amol Palekar in Golmaal, is sporting two looks, 1)9-to-5 plain John in regular clothing 2) jazzed up Joe in flamboyant jersey and track pants, in the eagerly awaited Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Both his looks in the romantic musical, introducing Anushka Sharma, were inspired by two participants of Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai?, a gameshow hosted by the star.
