Rock artists are synonymous with long tresses, quirky hairstyles. Some do it to convey a hard-bitten attitude and sizzling edginess, while others aim for a superficial level of coolness.
Filmmaker turned actor Farhan Akhtar, along with fellow band members -- Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli -- aspires to do the same in Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On. As evident from the title, the stylish-looking musical is about a rock band that doesn't quite hit the jackpot and its repercussions on the quartet's lives.
Whether the movie, releasing on August 29, will be as rocking as its title remains to be seen. But the foursome surely wins our vote as far as the spiffy, longish manes go. Speaking of which, Bollywood has its own share of pony-tailed heroes to brag of. rediff.com takes a look:

While daddy Bachchan may have opted for a salt 'n' pepper wig in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and The Last Lear, Abhishek grows both his hair and stubble to look sufficiently macho for his mythical super-heroic turn in Drona.
