Male bonding, Bollywood style

Dil Chahta Hai

Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut made a fascinating study of contrasts through the medium of three friends. And boy, do they look good together.

Aamir Khan's Aakash is the cocky, smug, rich brat. Akshaye Khanna's Siddharth makes a serene and muted picture, just like his paintings. Saif Ali Khan's Sameer is a clueless, love-me-do, middle-class lad.

Having practically grown up together, they love each other like brothers and are a part of each others' best memories. They pull each other's leg, exchange secrets, cry their grievances and depend on each other for advice. Alas, a time comes, when things go wrong and it seems like they have fallen apart.

Then again, old friendships die hard. And the one plotted by Farhan is no exception.
