What do Gandhi and Jolie have in common?
A Passage to India (1984)
Director: David Lean
Cast: Victor Banerjee, Judy Davis, James Fox, Peggy Ashcroft and Alec Guinness.
The India factor: David Lean's reel version of E M Forster's thought-provoking novel about inter-racial prejudices, of the same name, won two Oscars -- Best Supporting Actress (Ashcroft) and Original Score. Set in Colonial India, Lean made an elaborate use of The Bangalore Club and Savandurga Hill (a few kilometers west of Bangalore) to film several portions.
