Name: Vidya Malvade (Vidya)
How has the newfound fame affected you?
I've been in the public eye for some time now, through modelling and ads. But the exposure due to Chak De has been great. This kind of recognition is what an actor works for. New offers are pouring in. I still get calls congratulating me for the film. It's great! But the fame has not affected me personally; I'm still the same person. Perhaps people around me look at me differently now.
What's next for you?
I'm going to start shooting for two new films next month -- Junction with Abhay Deol and Kidnap with Sanjay Dutt. There are other scripts I'm at a point in my career where a decision can blow up in my face or propel me to greater success. So I'm taking it slow.
Besides films, what else have you been up to?
I'm the Brand Ambassador for World Gym; it's a new chain of gyms opening around India. Arnold Schwarzenegger is my counterpart in US, so this is quite an honour. Also, I'll be walking the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week for an upcoming designer from Kolkata, Abhishek Dutta.
What do you make of the fans' reaction to you and the film?
It's been great, and makes me feel more confident. People come up to me and thank me for the making the last save in the movie. They yell, 'Captain' or sing Chak de.
