I rushed to where they were running the film. It was those socialist days in India when the satellite boom had not happened and the good old VCR was one of the few entertainment options.
Mind you, the VCR then was expensive and the only way one could get it was by importing it after paying a heavy duty.
Few rich people could get it and one of my friends had one. When I reached his home I saw every friend of mine glued to the television set.
They were watching Vinod Khanna. One of them, who had already seen the movie, remarked, 'Good, Gullu, you came right on time. Now you will watch the most happening scene.'
And then Vinod Khanna kissed Madhuri Dixit.
It was a passionate scene -- passion as yet unseen for me. I remember both of them ate ice cream and a song played in the background.
