Move over, kiddie fantasies. Philip Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy is arriving, and New Line Cinemas justifiably sees it as the next Lord Of The Rings. The cinematic potential is obvious, and About A Boy director Chris Weitz has a big budget to go wild with.

And, of course, a great cast. Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig star, as do Sam Elliott, Eva Green and the baritone of Ian McShane. Plus the now inevitable Sir Ian McKellen.

Expect fireworks.
