Still, your career in Malayalam did not happen the way you would have liked?
I always have this feeling that though the Malayalam film industry is relatively small, there are enough talents to choose from. Of course, I would have expected more as an artist but I am happy to be part of some high profile films. Also, being part of a film by such a respected director as Adoor sir is an honour for me.
Were you hesitant to accept films as a career as you come from a traditional background?
Not really. I have interviewed several celebrities for my TV show, which made things easy for me to face the camera and also the interactions with them gave me more confidence. I have always accepted roles which I am ready to portray, so I have enjoyed being in the industry.
How did you feel when you were launched as a heroine for the first time in Jayaraj's Anachantham?
It happened suddenly. The memories give me a high even now. It was fun shooting for the film. Jayaram, whose love for elephants is well known, was very helpful and he gave me the courage while shooting near the tuskers.
Now that you have started acting in Telugu films, how different is the atmosphere from Malayalam?
There’s not much difference except perhaps for the language. I have been treated very well and the atmosphere on the sets is cordial.
