'Adoor sir usually chooses the perfect face for a role'

How was the experience working with an acclaimed director like Adoor Gopalakrishnan in Naalu Pennungal?

My character appears in the story called Nitya Kanyaka. It is an honour to have worked with him as well as the talented Nandita Das. Adoor sir usually chooses the perfect face for a role and I feel honoured that he selected me. He is a perfectionist and creates an atmosphere which makes it easy for the artists to come out with their best.

Looking back, how did films happen for you?

It all happened by chance. Director R Sarath selected me for Sayanham from the dance school where I was learning dance. I was studying in the standard 9 then. The film was critically appreciated and later I did small roles in films like Narendran makan Jayakanthan vaka, Gramaphone and Perumazhakkalam.

Soon after I started anchoring a show called Hello Good evening on television, which became very popular. Later director Jayaraj launched me as a heroine in his Anachantham. Films like Soorya kireedom, Atheetham, Changathipoocha, Panthayakkozhi, Salabham, Anthipponvettam, Chocolate and of course, Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Naalu pennungal are among the most important titles in my career.
