What did your dad say after he saw the film?
(Smiles) I feel very scared showing my film to Dad. I think that whenever I see his film, I realise that it would be good if he were not to see my performances in my films.
But by that standard, everyone should be scared of him in terms of performance.
I think he is such a fine actor, that one feels that there is no point in showing your performance to him. But I had tried hard for this film and had told Dad about this when I was working upon the script of this film. I had told him that I am playing a different character in the film, and this time my image would be pretty different from what the audience have of me in their mind.
This was also a challenge for me, because the character I play in the film is a bit older than what people are used to. Although I am 26, the common perception about me is that I am a college-going boy, so it was very essential for me that I do something different.
I wore specs in the film and also sported a different look. My mannerisms were different in the film, the character was a bit controlled and spoke very little. Geet's character in the film is very loud, while Aditya keeps mum most of the time. I was hoping that people expect me in such a character.
It really makes me happy that as a character I have tried to do something different, and thankfully it has clicked because otherwise what happens is that you get limited in a is a certain slot. People like to see you in a certain format, and then how many times can you really do it?
I am only 26 and want to work in this industry for many years, so if I do a similar thing over and over again, people will certainly get bored of me. Now I can whole-heartedly try to do something different in future too. I am feeling much more secure and confident.
