You can count off all-time great metal bands on your fingers -- even if you don't have a few of your digits. And Metallica is definitely one of the true pioneers of the pure-rage sound. As the BBC review of their 2003 album St Anger put it, they can spank the you-know-what of sissy nu metal and send it back to school.
Whether it's the classic mammoth sound or the rawer new Metallica, the metal behemoths are unparalleled when it comes to pure adrenaline.
And we all need a bit of adrenaline on a Saturday.
