When Rediff met young debutant Karthi just before the release of Paruthiveeran, he was extremely nervous. He was not sure how audiences would accept the film. Acting as a rustic rough villager was also like entering an alien territory for this young engineer who quit his job in the US to enter films.

But Karthi didn't look like someone facing the camera for the first time. He was confident, honest and understood the character Veeran very well -- though he gives full credit to his director Ameer for his performance. It is this very honesty that is appealing about this very talented young man.
