Send In The Clowns
It was the kind of song Jim Carrey would be well proud of.
Will Ferrell (pictured, right) began singing a lament for Oscar's criticism of the comedians, the tragically true story of how fine actors are usually passed over by the Academy, simply because it refuses to take comic films seriously.
He was joined by Jack Black, (left) who recommended a pretty direct course of action -- beating up all the actors who were nominated.
Finally came John C Reilly, waving the flag of truce. He suggested that the other comedians do what he do -- balance the screwball comedies with Academy-friendly movies. This idea resonated with the other two as they broke into a chorus about working in biopics and playing gay men. 'Look out Anthony Hopkins,' went the super refrain, 'next year your Oscar and your Helen Mirren are coming home with me.'
