Mandira Bedi's World Cup wardrobe

Why don't you do commercial Hindi films?

Firstly, I have not been offered films that I liked. Films made these days have a heroine who looks like 'heroine' -- she must look pretty, wear gorgeous clothes. I don't associate myself with that kind of cinema. I want to do the kind of acting that I've done in Meerabai where I played a character, not a heroine.

You started your career with one of the biggest films made in Bollywood, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

It is good to be a part of a film that made history. A year and a half after I started doing my television show, Shanti, I received a call from Karan Johar, who was assisting Aditya Chopra at that time. I did not know Aditya's capability then but I'd grown up on Yash Chopra fare like everyone else. He makes love stories like no one else does. I enjoyed working with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Aditya Chopra is like Rahul Dravid. I say this because Rahul is so focused on his work, and his job as a captain. Adi is like that too -- he is married to his work, he loves his work. He is very creative.
