Yogaraj Bhatt has become a trendsetter of sorts in the Kannada film industry. The success of his third directorial venture Mungaru Male has made him the toast of the industry.
Mungaru Male has comedian Ganesh and Sanjana Gandhi in the leading roles. Produced by debutant producer Krishnappa, the film is expected to rake in five times more than its investment. Indeed a trendsetter.
The young director spoke to RG Vijayasarathy after returning from a tour of the state.
Do you call this trip made along with Ganesh and cinematographer Krishna, a thanksgiving journey? It's rumoured that collections have increased tremendously after your visit.
You should understand we undertook this trip only after the film was declared as a big hit. The collections in Bangalore and Mysore have been very good from day one, but it picked up from the fifth day in other important centres like Davanagere and Shimoga. We wanted to boost publicity in these areas. So, we decided to personally go and see the reactions of the audience. It worked out well and everywhere there was an enthusiastic crowd to greet us. We came to know that in many places like Davanagere College, students watched the film four or five times. It was a great moment for all of us. Ganesh who is already popular because of his Comedy Time programme was mobbed in many places.
